Tips & Tricks Pt.3

14. CLEVER COVER UPS
Bikini from SnSbikinis.com
Model: Samantha Shane

You don’t always have to bare all when wearing a bikini.

You can still look smoking hot by making use of clever cover ups.

A sarong worn around the hips can look stylish and eclectic, and an open button-down shirt can look subtly revealing.

15. TOP IT OFF WITH A HAT

Wearing a hat with your bikini is not only sun smart but it also looks stylish and fun.

A straw hat teamed with tousled beach hair looks all sorts of chic and is a great way for adding extra detail to your look.

17. GET A PEDICURE

Don’t neglect your feet when it comes to getting your body bikini ready.

When you’re at the beach or by the pool, your entire body is on show.

Treat yourself to a pedicure for complete pampering.

18. WATCH SERVING SIZES

Overeating can easily cause our bellies to stick out and create the effect of a ‘food baby’.

Avoid this look when you’re wearing a bikini by eating smaller portions prior to stripping down.

This way, you can still eat while your stomach remains relatively flat.

19. WATCH THE SALT

Eating too many salty foods can lead to water retention, which can lead to bloating.

And bloating is not something that we want when putting on a bikini, right?

Just keep a watch on how many refined and salty foods you eat in the lead up to your bikini outing.

Tips & Tricks Pt.2

8. BIKINI USE BY DATE

Like most things, bikinis also have a use by date.

Eventually, the fabric will fade and stretch with use.

If your bikini is nearing its expiration date then don’t wear it to the beach!

Pick up a new one instead and you’ll be feeling a lot hotter for it.

9. FAKE IT

A fake tan can help make you appear more toned and give the appearance of muscle definition.

And who doesn’t want that when strutting around in a bikini?

Go for a natural looking tan for the best effect.

10. DE-FUZZ IN ADVANCE
www.SnSbikinis.com

The summer months often sees us removing hair from all sorts of places all over our bodies.

And bikinis don’t leave much room for hair to hide!

Plan your hair removal well in advance as freshly de-fuzzed skin can be quite sensitive to the elements.

11. EXFOLIATE

Exfoliate to get fresh, glowing skin.

Exfoliating can help remove dead skin cells and boost circulation around your body.

Your skin will appear smoother and more revitalized.

12. MOISTURIZE

When it comes to how to look hot in a bikini, scaly skin is a big no-no.

You’re going to have lots of skin on show so make sure it’s in the best condition possible by moisturizing regularly in the lead up to your beach outing.

13. SLATHER ON SUNSCREEN

Apply and reapply sunscreen to prevent your skin from burning at the beach.

All your hard work in making your body bikini ready will quickly go to waste once your skin starts turning shades of red.

How to look hot in a bikini is the question on everyone’s lips when summer rolls around.

For many women, the bikini can be a daunting prospect, but there are plenty of tips and tricks to make the bikini much less intimidating.

When it comes to how to look hot in bikinis, there are both long term and short term solutions.

1. HAVE CONFIDENCE:

First things first, you need to exude confidence.

Be confident in yourself and in your body.

Regular cardiovascular exercise should be coupled with resistance training.

Things like weights, pilates, and swimming are all great for toning up and creating muscle definition.

Choose the right swimsuit based on your body shape.

It can make all the difference when looking at how to look hot in a bikini this summer.

Curvier body shapes should stick to more supportive styles of bikinis, while those that are more ‘straight up and down’ may want to look into bikinis with ruffling or ruching detail at the bust.

5. COLOR CHOICE

Choose colours and fabrics that make you happy and that play up your best features.

Wearing your favourite colour will always have you feeling great, and wearing it on the areas you’d like to highlight will draw attention to these areas and detract from others.

6. MIX AND MATCH

Find this bikini here!

For example, depending on your body shape your top and bottom halves might be different sizes.

Buying separates is a great way to get the right fit and you’ll look all the better for it when you step out in your bikini.

7. GET A LITTLE EXTRA HELP

If your bikini still doesn’t look quite right, look at ways to help enhance your appearance.

Things such as shapers, tape, or extra padding can go a long way in giving you that extra lift when it comes to how to look hot in a bikini.

Bikini - Wikipedia

A bikini is usually a women's abbreviated two-piece swimsuit with a bra top for the chest and underwear cut below the navel.[1][2] The basic design is simple: two triangles of fabric on top cover the woman's breasts and two triangles of fabric on the bottom cover the groin in front and the buttocks in back.[1] The size of a bikini bottom can range from full pelvic coverage to a revealing thong or G-string design.

The name for the bikini design was coined in 1946 by Parisian engineer Louis RĆ©ard, the designer of the bikini. He named the swimsuit after Bikini Atoll, where testing on the atomic bomb was taking place. Fashion designer Jacques Heim, also from Paris, re-released a similar design earlier that same year, the Atome. Due to its controversial and revealing design, the bikini was slow to be adopted. In many countries it was banned from beaches and public places.[3] While still considered risquĆ©, the bikini gradually became a part of popular culture when film stars—Brigitte Bardot, Raquel Welch, Ursula Andress and others—began wearing them on public beaches and in film.

The bikini design became common in most Western countries by the mid-1960s as beachwear, swimwear and underwear. By the late 20th century it had become common as sportswear in sports such as beach volleyball and bodybuilding. Variations of the term are used to describe stylistic variations for promotional purposes and industry classifications, including monokini, microkini, tankini, trikini, pubikini, and skirtini. A man's brief swimsuit may also be referred to as a bikini.[2] Similarly, a variety of men's and women's underwear types are described as bikini underwear.

The bikini has gradually grown to gain wide acceptance in Western society. By the early 2000s, bikinis had become a US$811 million business annually, and boosted spin-off services such as bikini waxing and sun tanning.[4]

While the two-piece swimsuit as a design existed in classical antiquity,[5] the modern design first attracted public notice in Paris on July 5, 1946.[6] French mechanical engineer Louis RĆ©ard introduced a design he named the "bikini", taking the name from the Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean,[7][8] which was the colonial name the Germans gave to the atoll, transliterated from the Marshallese name for the island, Pikinni.[9] Four days earlier, the United States had initiated its first peace-time nuclear weapons test at Bikini Atoll as part of Operation Crossroads.[10] RĆ©ard hoped his swimsuit's revealing style would create an "explosive commercial and cultural reaction" similar to the explosion at Bikini Atoll.[11][12][13][14]

By making an inappropriate analogy with words like bilingual and bilateral containing the Latin prefix "bi-" (meaning "two" in Latin), the word bikini was first back-derived as consisting of two parts, [bi + kini] by Rudi Gernreich, who introduced the monokini in 1964.[15][16] Later swimsuit designs like the tankini and trikini further cemented this false assumption.[17] Over time the "–kini family" (as dubbed by author William Safire[18]), including the "–ini sisters" (as dubbed by designer Anne Cole[19]), expanded into a variety of swimwear, often with an innovative lexicon,[20] including the monokini (also known as a numokini or unikini), seekini, tankini, camikini, hikini (also hipkini), minikini, face-kini, burkini, and microkini. The Language Report, compiled by lexicographer Susie Dent and published by the Oxford University Press (OUP) in 2003, considers lexicographic inventions like bandeaukini and camkini, two variants of the tankini, important to observe.[21] Although "bikini" was originally a registered trademark of RĆ©ard, it has since become genericized.[22]

You’ve got two choices every summer — to put on a swimsuit or to skip it.

I have a lot of friends who do the latter.

They go to the pool with their kids, but they only put their feet in the pool. They sit on the sidelines, too concerned about what they look like and what others will think to embrace the joy of swimming with their kids.

Or they go to the beach, but stay under the umbrella instead of running into the ocean.

And it makes me incredibly sad.

Because when women stay on the sidelines because of insecurity, we are modeling unhealthy behavior to our children and we are missing out.

Your swimsuit does not define you.

That soft tummy you are trying to hide? Has stretched and grown life.

Those thighs that have long lost their gap? Gave you the strength to carry that beach ball for nine months, then walk with life hanging on your hips for years after.

You are a mother. You are beautiful.

Don’t wear a veil of shame this summer. Put that swimming suit on.

When we went to the beach in April, I weighed a few pounds more than I wanted to. But you know what?

I put my swimsuit on anyway and RAN INTO THE OCEAN with my kids.

We laughed and splashed and had the best time. Spending that time IN THE WATER with my children made such a difference.

That night, I asked my son what his favorite part of being at the beach was, and you know what he said? “Running on the beach with you and Daddy.”

With you.

A few weeks after that beach trip, I found out I was pregnant. Every week this summer I am a little rounder than the week before. But you know what?

I still put on my swimming suit every chance I get and go swimming with my kids. They love swimming. And I love being with them.

Last weekend, I put on my swimsuit, looked at myself in the mirror and took a deep breath. I’m already showing at just 11 weeks. But it looks more like too many potato chips than a baby. As I came out of the bathroom, Matthew said, “You look pretty in your suit, baby.”

I said, “Really?”

“Yes, really.”

I embraced his words, wanting to demonstrate beauty and confidence for my kids. I wanted to have fun and make memories at that pool.

I refuse to miss my children’s high-pitched, pool-induced giggles because of my insecurities.

I refuse to let other women’s judging eyes at the pool prevent me from exposing my kids’ eyes to the wonder of the sun glittering on the water.

I refuse to let my self-image influence my children’s.

I refuse to sacrifice memories with my children because of a soft tummy.

Because at the end of the day, it is not just about me.

It is about my kids.

I want them to remember twirling in the water with their mom.

I want them to remember splash fights together.

I want them to remember jumping off the edge of the pool into my arms.

I want them to remember that their mom was there, with them.

Today, I hope to encourage you to push your insecurities aside. Put on that bathing suit. Run through the sprinkler. Jump in the pool. Splash.

Have fun.

Your child will remember those moments and your freedom — not how you looked in your swimming suit.

Types of Bikinis

1. Bandeaukini/Strapless Bikini

Also known as Bandini, this style usually has a bandeau bra and briefs contrasting with the design. Sensuous and elegant, this style is more revealing than the usual ones.

Best Picks for: Skimpy or Hourglass shaped women
A Complete No for: Women with heavy busts.

2. Multi-String Bikini

As the name suggest, the bikini bottoms have numerous straps to bring out the sexiness in the hips.

Best Picks for: Women with flaunting hip bones.
A Complete No for: Women with very thick hips.

3. String Bikini

Cast a magical spell by getting into one of these for your next swim. These have strings to cling at your back and also at the waist band to heat up the things a lil bit.

Best Picks for: Hourglass shaped women, Women who dare to look steamy!
A Complete No for: Women with heavy busts and thighs

Extremely skimpy, this bikini style has bare fabric enough to cover the genitals of men or women. Very exposing variations may have a simple thread to keep things covered enough! You might need loads of guts to pull this off in public!

5. Tankini

Falling in decent limits, a tankini is one of the most recent forms of bikini. With a tank top having straps at the shoulder, a tankini has a contrast or matching bikini bottom. It was designed by Anne Cole who is considered to be the godmother of swimwear.

Best Picks for: All body types

6. Trikini

In the world of haute couture, it is known as “a handkerchief and two small saucers”. It comes with a bikini bottom and two triangular pieces of fabric covering the breasts with a middle connection. The scintillating piece barely covers the wearer and is quite revealing.

These days the swimwear also comes with pasties and a bikini bottom.

Best Picks for: Skinny Women
A Complete No for: Very plump women

Also known as the “Suspender Bikini” or “Slingshots”, it is a one-piece swimwear that provides very little coverage. Usually in Lycra, this bikini has straps going around the neck, down the back and along the midriff keeping both sides of the torso bare.

Another variation, Pretzel bikini, straps encircle the neck and around the midriff keeping the back almost bare.

Best Picks for: Well-toned women
A Complete No for: Women with heavy waistline

How to remove stains and care for your micro bikini

Read and carefully follow any fabric care instructions that come with or are listed on your bikini wear. You don't want to ruin it and use something that's going to make the color fade or stain even more. Determine if you are going to hand wash or machine wash your bikini wear. Take in consideration the fabric, texture and ornaments, if any, that may be affected. Of course, hand washing delicates is the safest way of handling such items, although if you are confident that your fabric can withstand a washing machine, then going that way may be plausible.

Treat stains as soon as possible. Newer stains are easier to remove than older ones. Always test stain removers on an inside seam or hidden part of the garment for color fast issues. Never put chemical dry-cleaning solvents into the washer.

Some mixtures such as ammonia and bleach can discolor your swimwear. Always launder the washable items after using a stain remover to eliminate the residue of the product. Have patience, some stains take longer time to remove and multiple applications. Along with stain removers are pre-stain removers and they come in either liquid, stick or spray formula. Pay close attention to the type of fabric and read the instructions on the individual product for finding out which will work best for you.

always use the safest water temperature for your fabric unless you have tested it and it bleeds. In that case, either use lukewarm water or cold water. Make sure the water is clean and sometimes you can add a pre-soaking agent to the water that you are going to hand wash your fabric in to aid cleaning. Refer to the Party Stains List below to select the proper water temperature with regard to a specific stain you would like to remove.

There are all purpose detergents that come in either liquid or powder form. Some are heavy-duty and some are fabric sensitive and/or hypoallergenic. It's up to you to determine which is better fitted for you and your fabric. Again, pay attention to the fabric and ornaments on it. You want a detergent that will liquefy quickly enough so your bikini doesn't have to sit a long time in the solution. Here are some tips on removing specific stains when choosing your detergent and water temperature.

Launder with detergent in hottest water safest for the fabric. Do not use soap (bar, flake or detergents containing natural soap) since soap can make the stain permanent. Soak stains for 30 minutes in 1 teaspoonful of presoak product. If all the sugars are not removed, a brown stain will appear when the fabric is heated in the dryer or is ironed, as the sugar has caramelized.

Treat the stain with a pre-wash spray or product containing enzymes. After pre-treating, then rub with a heavy-duty liquid detergent and launder. If the stain remains, then re-launder with bleach that is safe for the fabric.

Saturate the stain with a pre-treatment stain remover. Rub it with a heavy-duty liquid detergent then launder in hottest water safe for the fabric.

Flush cold water through the stain and scrape off crusted material. Soak for about 15 minutes in a mixture of lukewarm water, 1/2 teaspoon liquid hand washing detergent and 1 tablespoon ammonia. Rub gently to loosen the stain and then launder. If the stain is not completely removed, wet the stain with hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of ammonia and leave on for no longer than 15 minutes.

Rinse with water.

Sponge area with dry-cleaning solvent. Rub with heavy-duty liquid detergent then launder. If needed, use an all-fabric bleach.

If you're the old fashioned type, then nothing works better than hanging something out to dry in the natural breeze. Although if you have no time for that, then using a cool to warm temperature when drying out your special fabric will be sufficient enough to keep it looking nice and new. Be wary of any kind of trinkets or beads that could easily be caught and torn from your swimwear.
